What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their emotional charge. Instead of talking through a painful event in detail, you briefly focus on it while your therapist guides you through bilateral stimulation — usually gentle side-to-side eye movements, taps, or tones.

Developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro, EMDR follows a structured eight-phase protocol and is recognized as effective for trauma and PTSD by the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association. Many people find it works when traditional talk therapy hasn't.

Who is EMDR for?

Trauma & PTSD Anxiety & panic Intrusive memories Grief & loss Phobias

It's a good fit if reminders of the past still trigger you, or if you've tried talk therapy and want an approach that works differently.
